I am ashamed to admit that I somehow forget way too often the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I just finished reading The Irresistible Revolution for the second time, and it got me thinking about the gospel.

There is so much power in the Bible. The reason that I feel ashamed to admit that I forget about it's power is this (Bear with me for a second as I dream): If Christ were making a surprise visit to Waterford Town Center, and we all got a MySpace invite to come see Him speak, who wouldn't show up?! The place would be PACKED OUT. Christians and Pagans alike would line the streets to see Jesus in person. I'm convinced of it.

So how is it any different, that in our own houses, we have a book, with Jesus' words, straight from his mouth, spoken thousands of years ago to masses of people just like us, highlighted in red(as if to say, hey, pay attention to this!!), but we don't take advantage of it. We don't feed off of it. We don't get ideas of how to love our neighbor from it. We just let it sit on the shelf and think, I wish God would speak to me today. And we may even pray,"God, please speak. I'm begging you! I want to be closer to you. Let me hear you speak." HE HAS SPOKEN!! IT'S ON YOUR SHELF!! Get the dust off of the book and listen to God's tender, powerful, loving voice.

Please don't read that last paragraph and think, geez, he's being really self righteous, he has no right to digitally raise his voice at me! I'm yelling at myself!
And I know, there are more religious people than me, who read their Bible every day. And that's great, so don't get the wrong impression from what I am saying. The issue is, I have been praying to hear God's voice on certain issues for a couple months now and the whole time, I haven't been seeking an answer in His word, I've been waiting for some divine appointment with Him(which I still believe is possible, I just need to do my part too). So here is some scrumptious, red lettered brain food that helped me today to converse with my creator, and even after being read 50 times is still just as amazing to me.

"Jesus stepped into a boat, crossed over and came to his own town. Some men brought to him a paralytic, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven."
At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, "This fellow is blaspheming!"
Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, "Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts? Which is easier: To say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up and walk'? But so that you may know that the son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins...." Then he said to the paralytic,"Get up, take your mat and go home." And the man got up and went home."
